AMD was founded in 1969, when the company was small and even headquartered at the home of a founder. But from 1969 to 2013, AMD has been continuously developing, becoming a multinational company with an annual revenue of up to $2.4 billion in 2012. As of 2021, AMD's annual revenue reached $16.4 billion.

When the company was first established, all employees could only work in the living room of one of its founders, John Carey, but soon they moved to Santa Clara, California, USA to rent two rooms behind a carpet store as office space. By September of that year, AMD had raised the necessary funds to begin production and relocate to 901 Thompson Place in Sunnyvale, California, which was AMD's first permanent office location.

At AMD's fifth anniversary, AMD already had 1500 employees and produced over 200 different products - many of which were self-developed by AMD, with annual sales of nearly $26.5 million.

On July 24,2006, AMD announced the acquisition of ATI, which became AMD's graphics card division.

On October 27,2020, AMD agreed to acquire Xilinx for a value of $35 billion through stock trading, which was completed on February 14,2022.

On April 4,2022, AMD announced that in order to expand its data center solution capabilities, it will acquire Pensando for approximately $1.9 billion before making working capital and other adjustments. After meeting the customary transaction conditions, the acquisition has now been completed.

In August 2022, AMD will officially announce the Zen4 architecture of the Ruilong 7000 series processor at the end of this month, which will go on sale on September 15th, taking a step ahead of Intel's 13th generation Core.

On August 16, 2022, AMD announced an online press conference with the theme of "together we advance_PCs" and stated that it would launch the next AMD PC computer product. The press conference will be held at 7pm Eastern Time on Monday, August 29th.

In October 2022, AMD plans to launch the Ryzen 7000 X3D series AM5 desktop processor based on the Zen 4 architecture and 3D V-Cache stack cache during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) in early 2023.

On November 4,2022, AMD (Super Power) released a new graphics card based on the next-generation high-performance and energy-efficient AMD RDNA 3 architecture - the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards.

On November 13,2022, AMD began adjusting the selling price of its old flagship graphics card, with the RX 6950 XT public version model currently priced at 6499 yuan upon receipt.

On November 26,2022, AMD announced that it will release a non X series Ruilong 7000 processor at CES in January 2023, adding more cost-effective models to the X670 and B650 platforms.

On January 5,2023, AMD released the Ruilong 700065W processor, which is now available for pre-sale and officially referred to as the "Smart Cool Edition".

On October 10,2023 Eastern Time, AMD announced on its official website the signing of a final agreement to acquire No AI.
