Huirong introduces the new PCIe 5.0 SSD main control SM2508: 6nm technology, small and large core design, with a speed of up to 14.5 GB/s

The introduction of the new PCIe 5.0 SSD master control SM2508 with IT Home Huirong is as follows:

Huirong Technology's latest flagship PCIe 5.0 SSD main control chip, SM2508, supports NVMe 2.0, with 8 built-in flash memory channels supporting up to 3600MT/s speed. Its sequential read and write speeds can reach up to 14.5GB/s and 14GB/s, and random read and write speeds can reach 2.5 million IOPS.

The SM2508 main control chip uses a combination of four ARM Cortex R8 processors and one ARM Cortex M0 processor. Among them, four R8 processors can reach a maximum of 1.25GHz and support symmetric multiprocessing and disordered execution. Compared to R5 processors that use asymmetry, they have a 50% advantage in computing power. The processing architecture of large core and small core can achieve higher parallelism, lower power consumption, and higher frequency, thus achieving a balance between performance and power consumption.

To improve the performance of PCIe Gen5 for notebook users, Huirong Technology not only adopts TSMC's 6-nanometer EUV process on the SM2508 main control chip, which can reduce power consumption by 45% compared to 12nm, but also combines Huirong Technology's intelligent power management, intelligently adjusting the power consumption during operation through dedicated modules, and combining with the overall low-power design concept, Enable high-speed performance to be fully utilized in products such as laptops with compact space and stringent power consumption requirements.

Huirong stated that PCIe 5.0 SSD will be widely used in PC OEMs in 2025.
