Gathering the trend of innovation, Intel accelerates the development of FPGA with leading technology and ecology

Today, the 2022 Intel ®FPGA China Technology Week with the theme of "Speed Up, Make Innovation Track" kicked off online. Intel revealed details of its latest Agilex D series and Sundance Mesa series FPgas based on Intel's 7-process process. At the same time, Intel also joined hands with industry partners to conduct in-depth discussions on cloud computing, embedded, network and developers, and jointly in-depth analysis of how to innovate FPGA applications, flexibly respond to the huge needs of industry, network communication, consumer electronics, data centers, autonomous driving and other wide range of downstream applications, and to help the intelligent future with excellent development and design experience.

"In response to the new challenges and higher technology demands of the digital age, Intel aims to build diversified products, technologies and applications through the 'five technology superpowers' including ubiquitous computing, ubiquitous connectivity, cloud-to-edge infrastructure, artificial intelligence, sensing and perception. As an important part of Intel's XPU strategy, we are committed to driving FPGA innovation and development, and will continue to focus on innovative product technologies, talent development, and building a stronger local ecosystem."

-- John Zhuang, Vice President of Intel Marketing Group, General Manager of Data Center Sales in China and General Manager of Carrier Sales in China

Understanding the needs of our customers, Intel is not only responding to growing demand with products of smaller sizes and lower power, but also committed to supply continuity and stability, and actively responding to the increasingly complex development environment to create new programmable solutions. Recently, Intel disclosed its latest series of FPGA product roadmap.

Intel ® Agilex™ D Series FPGas: Using the Intel 7-process process, it extends its performance to mid-range FPGA applications and offers high performance while delivering smaller profile sizes and lower power and density than the current Agilex F/I/M series. Intel ® Quartus® Prime Software is expected to begin supporting the product in the first half of 2023, with shipping in the second half of 2023 and production in the first half of 2024.

The new Intel ® Agilex™ FPGA (Codenamed Sundance Mesa: Intel's 7-process process is designed to deliver high energy efficiency for edge, embedded and other applications. Sundance Mesa is expected to reach a wider market with lower power consumption, smaller profile and logic density than Intel ® Agilex™ D Series FPGas. Intel ® Quartus® Prime Software is expected to begin supporting the product in the first half of 2023, with shipping in the second half of 2023 and production in the first half of 2024.

Intel ® Agilex™ FPGA supports CXL and PCIe 5.0: Based on the Intel 7-process process and core design, it not only supports Compute Express Link (CXL) and PCIe 5.0, but also provides high bandwidth, providing greater acceleration for extremely demanding processor workloads. The first units of the product are now being shipped to early customers.

Intel ® Tofino™ Extended Architecture: Based on the Intel 7-process process and P4 programmability, it enables not only greater flexibility in performance optimization, but also lower TCO (total cost of ownership) with open standards.

At the same time, in addition to continuously promoting FPGA innovation in the product side, Intel also creates a new "engine" for the industry development in China by building a strong industrial application ecology and accelerating talent training. It is worth noting that Intel FPGA China Innovation Center is Intel's largest FPGA innovation center in the world and the only one in Asia. Since its inception, it has focused on FPGA technology and ecology. The Intel FPGA China Innovation Center is the first to deploy Intel ® Agilex™ FPGas and Intel ® Stratix® 10 NX FPGas with superior performance to meet the demand for multiple computing capabilities in multiple scenarios and accelerate cloud innovation. At the same time, by compiling customized books, providing professional tools and high-quality training measures, we also build a complete professional FPGA talent cultivation system, and further improve the practical skills of talents through supporting industry summits and competitions in many professional fields. In addition, in order to accelerate the practical application, Intel FPGA China Innovation Center more two-pronged efforts to expand the cooperation with universities and industries, to closely unite the industry, the university and the research, to form the upper, middle and downstream docking and coupling of technology innovation.

During this Intel ®FPGA China Technology Week, Intel not only demonstrated how to create world-changing technologies through continuous innovation, but also closely followed the latest trends and challenges at many application levels, and closely exchanged technological breakthroughs with Chinese industrial ecological partners to build consensus for cooperation. In the future, Intel will join hands with more industrial ecological partners in China, deepen cooperation in FPGA technology innovation, talent training, achievement transformation and other aspects, and seek a new picture of the future development of the industry.
