OpenAI Altman's trip to South Korea: Visiting Samsung Semiconductor Production Line, Reportedly Holding Talks with SK Group President

This visit has attracted widespread attention, especially as several Samsung business unit presidents participated in the meeting, including Kyung Kye hyun, the head of Samsung's electronic device solutions department. And this afternoon, Altman plans to have talks with SK Hynix President Guo Luzheng and an independent meeting with SK Group President Cui Taiyuan.

The original plan was for Altman to stay in South Korea for about 6 hours, specifically to meet with semiconductor industry professionals. However, due to the inclusion of a visit to the semiconductor factory, his stay in South Korea was extended to 2 days and 1 night.

Another aspect of this visit that has attracted attention is Altman's plan to collaborate with large enterprises to promote the construction of the "AI Chip Alliance". People are concerned about whether OpenAI will become a major customer of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Currently, Altman is committed to promoting the development of OpenAI's own AI chips to reduce dependence on American chip company Nvidia.

OpenAI hopes to establish a chip manufacturing company, so Altman is working hard to persuade more potential investors to join this plan. Last June, Altman visited South Korea and met with then South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol and leaders of approximately 100 South Korean startups.
