Global Semiconductor Sales Set Best Record in 20 Years in Q4 2023: Storage Chips Drive Growth

The impressive performance of global semiconductor component sales in the fourth quarter is mainly attributed to the storage chip sector, driven by the AI wave, and many companies have increased demand for HBM. In terms of manufacturers, Samsung's year-on-year growth reached 49%, SK hynix grew by 24.1%, and Micron's revenue increased by 17.9%. During this period, the average revenue of these three manufacturers increased by 33%.The weighted average revenue of the 12 largest non storage companies in the industry increased continuously by 4% in the previous quarter, with MediaTek (continuous growth of 17.7%), Qualcomm (14.2%), and Nvidia (10.4%) performing the best. As for the first quarter of this year, Micron expects its revenue to grow by 12.1%; Although Samsung and SK hynix, two manufacturers in South Korea, have not disclosed their forecasts, it is expected that the demand for their products will remain at a high level. However, apart from memory manufacturers, the continuous revenue dynamics of most semiconductor companies are negative. Nine non memory companies predict that their revenue will continue to decline this quarter, with Infineon predicting a decrease of 2.8% and Intel predicting a decrease of 17.6%.This shows the differences between different fields and companies in the semiconductor industry, providing a certain reference for the future development of the market.
