Intel Xeon Granite Rapids-SP CPU exposed: 80 cores, 672MB L3 cache, 350W TDP

Recently, Yuuki Anho-YuuKi_AnS posted a CPU-Z screenshot on Twitter, showing an engineering sample of Intel Granite Rapids Xeon processors. According to the screenshot information, the processor has 80 cores, is equipped with 672MB L3 cache, has a maximum frequency of 2.5 GHz, and a 350W TDP.

However, in a follow-up tweet, YuuKi_AnS pointed out that the current version of CPU-Z does not correctly display information about the processor. In fact, these are two Granite Rapids samples, each with 80 cores and 160 threads.

Still, the rest of the Granite Rapids processor's specs are impressive. In addition to the increase in the number of cores, its L3 cache capacity has also been significantly expanded. This cache capacity is speculated to be nearly 6 times that of Intel's Sapphire Rapids CPUs and 2 times that of Intel's Emerald Rapids flagship chip, the Platinum 8592+. According to CPU-Z information, the Granite Rapids processor also comes with 320MB of L2 cache and 10MB of L1 cache. This exposure shows a significant increase in core count for Intel processors. The 80-core Granite Rapids chip has 20 percent more cores than Intel's flagship Emeral Rapids 8592+ CPU and 25 percent more cores than Sapphire Rapids.
